A message from "Blazin' Beth"
"When we began our lupus awareness campaign in the beginning of 2005, I had no idea how well we would do. Family and friends, racers and race fans, individuals, groups and corporations have all joined us in this race to help find the cause of, and the cure for, this terrible disease. I have had a real rough year physically and mentally but the important part is, I AM HERE!!! To reach our goal of $50,000.00 for Lupus International is amazing and to still be here to see this day is truly a blessing. Thank you everyone." Beth

Cover Boy!!! The staff at National Dragster decided that Blodgett Senior's Super Gas victory at the 2006 Autolite Nationals was worthy of the cover shot on ND's Issue number 31 and we couldn't agree more. In route to his first NHRA National Event crown, "Senior" took out six National Event Winners including legendary racer, Ted Seipel. Read more... | | Irwindale Dragstrip was the place to be on Thursday, July 20 as the track hosted The 1st Annual Lupus-Fibromyalgia Charity Drag Race as part of their weekly Street Legal racing program "Thursday Night Thunder". A standing room only crowd witnessed a "good old fashion match race" between Lupus International supporters, Blodgett Family Racing and the Orange County based team from Purple Reign Racing representing the National Fibromyalgia Association. These two groups of racers did battle throughout the night to promote lupus and fibromyalgia awareness as well as generate funds for both organizations. Thousands of race fans came out to show their support and many took the opportunity to make a few laps down the dragstrip with Irwindale’s safe alternative to illegal street racing. The team from BFR; consisting of Junior and Senior along with Bob Chagnon, Jay Shelton and Gary Ratcliffe, put on a domination performance by winning nine rounds of racing in the ten rounds that were contested. The victory earned Lupus International the $2,000.00 purse that was posted by The Starting Gate Restaurant in Los Alamitos. | | Mike Blodgett Sr. drove the Blodgett Family Roadster to a final round victory over Gary Cooke and his beautiful 1962 Chevrolet Corvette in the KD Kanopy Super Shootout to close out a terrific first half to the 2006 racing season for Blodgett Family Racing. "Senior's" clutch performance at The Auto Club Dragway at California Speedway was especially sweet due in part to a friendly (but undisclosed) "side bet" the two long-time friends negotiated prior to their final round match up. Quick to point out that his win was very much a team effort; Mike would like to thank their sponsors Isky Cams, Hughes Performance, Goodyear, BP Carson Refinery and Spectrum Coatings for all their support. | | The Kickin' Chicken does it again in the Pacific National Open Series! Mike Blodgett Jr. beat the heat of Las Vegas and nearly 100 Super Gas competitors when he drove his potent 1972 Chevrolet Vega to another hard fought victory to celebrate Father's Day 2006! The long hot day of racing, that started early on June 17th, did not come to a conclusion until well after midnight when Blodgett turned on the final win light by driving past Gary Ross' Camaro. How hot was it? To address the track temperatures that were nearing 150 degrees, the crew from The Strip at LVMS sprayed thousands of gallons of water on the track surface using a water truck to bring the track temperature down 15-20 degrees and assure the racers that it was safe to race on. | | | The Kickin’ Chicken beat the heat of Las Vegas and won Super Gas at the NHRA Pacific Division National Open at The Strip at LVMS. In a race that began a day earlier, Junior made it to the winners’ circle in the early morning hours of Father’s Day.
